Only One Day Like Today

Saturday – Last Full Day in Tillamook, OR

Filed under: Uncategorized — by onlyonedayliketoday @ 9:14 am

Since it was drizzling rain off and on we decided to swim in the hotel pool and check out some indoor things around town.

While the boys went to the Tillamook Air Museum, us girls went to a Pioneer Museum, Farmer’s Market, Farm Store, and another visit to the petting zoo at the Blue Heron Cheese Company.

The Air Museum building was quite fascinating.  It was built in 1942 to house the blimps the navy used to patrol for enemy submarines.  They built two of these hangers which could each house up to eight blimps!  They were built with an all wood frame, and were only in operation for six years.   The other hanger burned down, so this is the remaining one.

This morning we are packing up, and will be home in the early afternoon.

Thanks for “coming along” with us on this very enjoyable, relaxing family vacation!   We sure enjoyed your comments!

  1. What a cute picture of Timothy in the pool!!!

It has been fun to go with you on this vacation and I feel sad that it is ending. I am sure the children will have good memories for many years of this special time. Have enjoyed all the pictures so much. The old hangar was interesting. Hard to believe it could house 8 blimps.

Have a safe trip home. Much love, Meemom
