A Lovely Day for a Picnic!

Filed under: Today's Blessing — by onlyonedayliketoday @ 12:48 pm

It is a beautiful day today.  The sun is shining brightly, and it is around 70 degrees.  We are all busy with our outdoor chores:  mowing, soaking animal hooves, shearing Justice, washing the van, etc.     So those who were able to took a break for a picnic lunch.  It was lovely!

What a Time It’s Been

Filed under: All Things For Our Good — by onlyonedayliketoday @ 10:12 am

Thursday morning (May 22nd) we got a call from Century 21 saying that Mr. Russ Douglas would like to show our house on Saturday, (May 24th).  He is the same realtor that showed our home once before.  So we dropped everything we had planned on Thursday and began the de-cluttering and deep-cleaning process once again.   We had quite a lot of work to do, as usual!  I got busy cleaning the carpets, and the kids jumped right into action, as if they had done this once before:)!  The house was still in fairly good shape from the last showing, in some ways (like the dusting of logs), but in other ways it needed a lot of work.  (Like weeding, mowing with the push mower while our riding mower is in need of repair, and making ten, plus one, puppies disappear!)

On Friday morning, Lydia began feeling head-achy with additional body aches.   She didn’t feel well at all and we sent her to bed.  She slept most of the day and into the night.   At one point during the day, she said this seemed like the worst sickness she had ever had.

Saturday morning she woke up still not feeling well and with a pretty high fever still.   Kyle also woke up not feeling well.   He was head-achy too.

Lydia began a bit of a come-back by about 10am and was able to get up and move about, even helping some with the last minute polishing of the house.     Kyle felt a bit better after some Advil, but took a dive a couple hours later and took a good nap here and at Meemom and Papa Bob’s house during the showing.   We were all, once again, so very thankful for Meemom and Papa Bob’s house!

Later, after the showing, Victoria began feeling more tired and head-achy (she had been feeling a bit under-the-weather throughout the day), so she went to bed around 6pm along with Lydia, who took another set-back with the way she was feeling.    So Kyle, Lydia and Victoria all were in bed by 6pm or so.

Tonight I could not sleep and when I got out of bed at 2am, I met Lydia in the bathroom.  She was burning up!  We got her some Tylenol and back to bed she went.  Then Victoria got up to use the restroom, and as I was visiting with her about all her current symptoms, she had diarrhea and then began vomiting too.

Everyone is back in bed for the moment.  I wonder what today will hold.  We had already planned on the kids and I not attending church, as we knew that we did not want to pass this ugly sickness around.

We also were sad to cancel a Friday night visit from the Succo’s, a Saturday afternoon visit from Kelley and family, anda picnic today with the Adams Family.   I am so glad we KNOW that all things work together for our good!  Even sickness.    God is at work in our lives, and I am so thankful.

P.S.  (We were still able to successfully pull the house together for a great showing.  The kids were amazing, as always.  The ones who felt well enough worked so hard, and even the sick ones contributed as they were able to.  I am so proud of them for how eager they are to work together as a team for a common goal.   It is a beautiful thing to experience!

The couple who came to see the house were a bit older than Ted and I and they seemed to really love the house and the view.  We felt very optimistic about the showing, although we were told up front that it is really out of their price range.  So we will wait, once again, trusting in our Sovereign God’s perfect plan for us.)

Timmyism #1

Filed under: Timmyism — by onlyonedayliketoday @ 3:23 pm

When asked by Daddy recently,  “What is a “lullun?”, three-and-a-half-year-old Timmy replied, “A girl who really loves me.”

(The word “lullun” was authored by Timothy when he was very little as another word for “sister”!)

Also, when speaking about coins yesterday, Timothy called his thick silver coin a “pickle”!
